Ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, star overseas players Brendon McCullum and Chris Woakes are named among the nine players who have been released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Apart from them, the other overseas player released was New Zealand star all-rounder Corey Anderson. The franchise acquired all the three players in the last season.
While RCB managed to retain 14 players, Sarfaraz khan was named among the Indian players to be relesed alongside the like of Manan Vohra and Murugan Ashwin. Khan was initially rertained last season by the franchise.
RCB retained 14 players, including seamer Navdeep Saini, who didn't feature even once last season.
Amongst the Indian players, apart from obvious retentions like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal, the franchise retained Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Washington Sundar and Parthiv Patel.
Moeen Ali, Colin de Grandhomme, Tim Southee and Nathan Coulter-Nile are the retained overseas players.
The franchise had already traded Mandeep Singh for Marcus Stoinis.
