Is Rohit Sharma planning to retire after ICC Champions Trophy 2025? Ahead of IND vs NZ Final in Dubai, Shubman Gill was asked about the veteran opener's future. Gill dismissed the speculation, stating that no discussions have taken place regarding Rohit's retirement.

"There has been no such talk in the dressing room; we are only thinking about the match. Rohit also isn’t thinking like that. After the match, he will think if there is anything," Gill told reporters in Dubai, InsideSport reported.

Shubman clarified that Rohit hasn't discussed retirement with the team. He added that if Rohit plans to make a decision, it will likely come after the ICC Champions Trophy final.

"Rohit also isn't thinking like that. After the match (IND vs NZ Champions Trophy Final on Sunday), he will think if there is anything," Gill added.

Senior players could be phased out after Champions Trophy

With ICC Champions Trophy 2025 concluding on Sunday, Team India's management is shifting its focus to the future. Reports suggest that several senior players could be phased out, paving the way for emerging talent in the squad.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar are set to review the performances of multiple players after CT 2025. The likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, and Kuldeep Yadav could find their places under scrutiny.

Rohit Sharma's ODI future remains uncertain. Speculation suggests he may retire post-Champions Trophy, but if he continues, discussions with the management regarding his role and future plans are expected.

Potential replacements in the squad

Varun Chakravarthy, who recently broke into the ODI setup, could replace Kuldeep Yadav as a frontline spinner. Meanwhile, young wicketkeepers Dhruv Jurel and Jitesh Sharma are strong contenders to step in for Rishabh Pant, given their recent form. KL Rahul's improved wicketkeeping also makes him a alternative.

Virat Kohli has been in stellar form during ICC Champions Trophy 2025, registering a century and a fifty. The team management continues to see him as a key part of India's long-term plans, particularly with preparations already underway for 2027 ODI World Cup.
