Is This India's Curse? Past ICC Results Causing Fan Anxiety

India has reached the final in two of the last three ICC ODI tournaments, but on both occasions, they fell short.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, hosted by Pakistan, has reached its grand finale, with India and New Zealand set to clash for the coveted title on Sunday.

India eyes a record third title, while New Zealand seeks its second, having last won the tournament in 2000. However, an unsettling pattern from past ICC events has left Indian fans on edge.

India's struggles in ICC Finals – A worrying trend

India has reached the final in two of the last three ICC ODI tournaments, but on both occasions, they fell short. A concerning pattern has emerged - India lost in the final to the same team it had beaten in the group stage.

2017 Champions Trophy: India defeated Pakistan by 124 runs in the group stage but suffered a 180-run loss in the final.

2023 ODI World Cup: India beat Australia in the league stage but lost to them by six wickets in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad - a heartbreak still fresh in the minds of Indian fans.

Can India overcome the jinx against New Zealand?

Once again, India faces a familiar scenario. In the group stage, India defeated New Zealand by 44 runs in Dubai. Now, they meet again in the final, and Indian fans are hoping history doesn't repeat itself.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was hosted by Pakistan, but Team India played all its matches in Dubai due to political reasons. Initially, two venues were under consideration for the final - Lahore and Dubai. However, after India's semifinal win over Australia, it was confirmed that the final would take place in Dubai.

No change in IND vs NZ CT Final match timing

With the final venue confirmed, speculation arose regarding a possible change in match timing. However, the schedule remains unchanged:

Final Match: India vs New Zealand
Date: Sunday, March 9
Start Time: 2:30 PM IST
Toss: 2:00 PM IST

So far, all tournament matches have followed this schedule, and the final will be no exception.
