India Coach Reveals One Player Who Prefers Not To Talk While Batting

This lesser-known detail was recently shared by India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak during a press conference.

Rishabh Pant, currently touring England as part of the Indian squad for the ongoing five-match Test series, has already made a strong impression. His impactful batting played a major role in India’s historic win at Edgbaston.

Known for his aggressive and unconventional style, Pant has a unique approach while at the crease—he prefers silence over chatter.

This lesser-known detail was recently shared by India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak during a press conference.

Sitanshu Kotak’s Big Reveal on Pant

While Rishabh Pant is known for playing bold shots and staying expressive off the field, he takes a more focused approach during his innings.

Kotak explained that Pant deliberately avoids talking to his batting partners, fearing that conversations may disturb his concentration and alter his game plan.

“Rishabh actually talks a lot about what he does, when he does [it], why he does [it]," Kotak said on Tuesday.

“To me, he’s spoken, but he’s someone who doesn’t like talking too much during his innings because he feels that that changes his mindset, and he takes the wrong decision. That’s only when he’s batting."

Kotak clarified that Pant's quiet nature is limited to his time at the crease. Off the field or in team discussions, he actively contributes ideas and strategies.

“Apart from that, he talks about other batters also, about himself also, and he does [properly plan] what he wants to do because it’s not so easy to score Test hundreds or not so easy to be successful at this level without having any planning," he added.

As India heads into the third Test, Pant’s discipline and unique methods continue to be key to the team’s success.

Pant's soild impact in IND vs ENG Tests

Rishabh Pant has made a solid impact in the ongoing India vs England Test series.

In the first two Tests, he played key innings that helped stabilize India’s middle order. His quick scoring and fearless strokeplay were crucial in India’s dominant win at Edgbaston. Pant’s ability to counter-attack under pressure continues to make him a vital asset in the Test lineup.
