IND vs AUS: Security Drags Pitch Invader Out Of Field In Delhi, Mohammed Shami's Gesture Wins Hearts
Delhi Test: Shami was stationed near the boundary ropes when the entire incident happened on Day 1 of the second match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is currently underway at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. With cricket in this part of the world no less than a religion, fans waste no opportunity to meet their cricketing idols. However, one such fan breached security and invaded the field of play during Day 1 of the Delhi Test. Before the fan could get close to the pitch though, security officials caught him.
When the officials were seen dragging the fan out of the field, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami showed a heartfelt gesture for the intruder. Shami was fielding near the boundary ropes in the same area of the field where the fan was being forced out from but the Indian cricketer signalled the security staff not too be too harsh on the invader.
A video of the same has surfaced on social media.

There have been several instances of a fan invading the pitch in India. Not too long ago during the second ODI between India and New Zealand, a fan had come running to give captain Rohit Sharma a hug. Even on that instance, the security personnel had come running in and the turn of events saw Rohit almost losing his balance and falling off yet he had requested the security not to be too hard on the young fan.
As far as the Delhi Test is concerned, Australia were fortunate to win their second Toss in a row but have been bowled out for 263 in the first innings with Shami returning with figures of 4 for 60. Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja picked 3 wickets each.
India are 1-0 up in the series having beaten the Aussies by an innings and 132 runs and the visitors would want to bounce back with an improved performance in the second Test. The last two Test matches of the series are scheduled in Indore and Ahmedabad.
