UP ATS Seeks Data as Over 545 Sanitation Workers Go Missing from 17 Municipal Corporations

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has become active after more than 545 sanitation workers were reportedly found missing from 17 municipal corporations across the state. According to official sources, the ATS has sought detailed information from municipal bodies regarding these workers, including their identity documents and employment records. The development follows a high-level meeting held by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on December 3, during which district administrations were instructed to intensify verification drives and identify suspected illegal infiltrators. Subsequent reports indicated that a large number of sanitation workers stopped reporting to duty. In Lucknow Municipal Corporation alone, around 160 sanitation workers have allegedly stopped coming to work in the past six days. Across the state, the number has crossed 545, prompting security agencies to initiate verification and background checks. The ATS has sent formal communications to all 17 municipal corporations, seeking details about when these workers stopped appearing for duty, their registered addresses, and available documentation. Based on this information, further जांच (investigation) will be conducted. Officials have clarified that the verification process is ongoing, and no final conclusions have been drawn yet. Authorities have urged the public to avoid rumours and maintain peace.
