The upgrades aim to increase its seating capacity to 50,000 and integrate modern facilities, making it a centerpiece for the Games. The revamped Gabba will host the Olympics' opening and closing ceremonies, along with several sporting events.

Due to these developments, cricket at the Gabba will be put on hold. While the Indian team will play here starting December 14, the Australia vs England Ashes Test series next year is expected to host the last Test at this venue.

As per reports, some experts believe Test cricket may not return to Gabba after renovations, with new Victoria Park Stadium being positioned as Brisbane's future Test venue.
