David Warner To Retire From Tests? Wife Candice's Cryptic Post Suggests So
The Australian selection committee is yet to announce the squad for the last two Ashes Tests, but Warner's place in the squad is doubtful.
David Warner’s performance in Ashes 2023 has raised a lot of questions on his future in the longest format of the game as the opener batter has struggled with his willow. A cryptic Instagram picture from the Australian opener's wife Candice Warner has fueled speculation regarding his early retirement from Test cricket. Warner started the innings for Australia in the first three Ashes Tests alongside Usman Khawaja but was spotted struggling to make runs.
The left-hand batter was cleaned up twice by English pacer Stuart Broad in the third Test, scoring just five runs in both innings. Following Australia's three-wicket loss in the third Ashes Test, Warner's wife Candice posted a family photo to Instagram with the caption, "The end of an era for us touring with test cricket, it's been fun. Forever your biggest supporters and your girl gang. Love you @davidwarner31".

The Australian fans have flooded the post with a lot of comments over Warner’s future in Test Cricket where Some have predicted that Warner’s premature departure from Test Cricket will open a spot for other players while others highlighted that the post was about Warner family’s last England Tour which has nothing to do with the retirement.
The Australian selection committee is yet to announce the squad for the last two Ashes Tests, but Warner's place in the squad and at the top of the batting order is in doubt. Following the third Test in Leeds, Australia captain Pat Cummins refused to guarantee Warner's spot in the team. Cummins also indicated in the post-match press conference that Cameron Green's comeback for the Manchester Test is a possibility.
“You keep all options open," Cummins told media. "We've got nine or 10 days now, so we'll take a deep breath. We'll go away for a few days.”
"But everyone comes back into it. Greeny should be fit for Manchester. Josh [Hazlewood] will be back in there as well. So we should have a full roster and we'll have a look at the wicket and have a chat and work out the best XI."
The selectors could be in a very skeptical position in finalizing the top order as all-rounder Mitchell Marsh scored a hundred in the last Test, and his place in the playing XI is certain. On the other hand, Green’s return will likely to harm Warner’s spot in the team.
