Cricketer Robin Uthappa Responds To PF Fraud Charges And Arrest Warrant

The case is currently under investigation by both the police and the PF department, with further developments awaited.

Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has landed in legal trouble after an arrest warrant was issued against him in connection with an alleged Provident Fund (PF) scam. The warrant, issued by Regional PF Commissioner Sadakshari Gopal Reddy, directs law enforcement to treat the matter with urgency and take appropriate action.

Uthappa, who was reportedly overseeing the management of Centuries Lifestyle Brand Private Limited, is accused of deducting PF contributions from employee salaries but failing to deposit the funds into their accounts. The alleged scam reportedly amounts to Rs 23 lakh.

The case is currently under investigation by both the police and the PF department, with further developments awaited.

Robin Uthappa issues clarification on alleged PF scam

Robin Uthappa has addressed the allegations through a public statement on his social media platforms, denying any executive involvement in the operations of the companies in question. He clarified that his role was limited and did not include overseeing their day-to-day activities.

"In light of recent news of the PF case against me, I would like to provide some clarification," he began.

"In 2018-19, I was appointed as a director in these companies due to my financial contributions to them in the form of loans. However, I did not have an active executive role, nor was l involved in the day-to-day operations of the businesses. Given my demanding schedule as a professional cricketer, TV presenter, and commentator, neither did I have the time nor expertise to participate in their operations. In fact, I do not play an executive role in any other companies I have lended, till date," Uthappa shared on Instagram.

Robin Uthappa was born on November 11, 1985, in Kodagu, Karnataka. He made his ODI debut in 2006 and represented India across formats. Uthappa was key in India's historic win at the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. In IPL, he played with teams like Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
