Mohammed Siraj's Ailing Father Passes Away; India Pacer, Currently In Australia, Can't Attend Last Rites

Mohammed Siraj's father passes away: The Indian speedster's father was suffering from a lung ailment and was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad few days back.

The father of Indian cricket team fast bowler Mohammed Siraj passed away on Friday. Siraj's father Mohammed Ghouse breathed his last at the age of 53 in a hospital at Hyderabad. He had been battling lung ailment for a long time. According to a report in Sportstar, Siraj, who is currently with the Indian cricket team in Australia, will not be attending the last rites of his father due to quarantine rules in Australia amid Coronavirus pandemic.

Mohammed Siraj's father was an auto driver, but despite this he did not let his son fall short of anything and supported his son's dream with very minimal resources.

“My dad's wish was always this - mera beta, desh ka naam roshan karna (my son, you should make my country proud). And, I will do that for sure,” Siraj told Sportstar.

“I know what kind of hardship my dad faced in my early days driving an auto rickshaw to let me pursue my passion for the game. It is shocking. I lost the biggest support of my life. It was his dream to see me play for the country and I am glad that way I could realise that and bring joy for him.”

“The coach Shastri Sir and captain Virat Kohli were informed about the news. They just told me to be bold and are lending all the support,” Siraj added.

Siraj's father was suffering from a lung ailment and was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad few days back.

“Dad was admitted to hospital a day before the match so I was really concerned. However when I called home after the match, I was really surprised to hear that dad was home and that made me more happy that another good news after we winning the match against KKR,” Siraj had in a video posted by RCB.

“He even told me happily that people having calling him whole day that your son has done so well in IPL and all the newspapers in Hyderabad have your photo,” he said.

How Mohammed Siraj's IPL 2020 Performance Helped Him Cement A Spot In Team India!

Mohammad Siraj came into the limelight when he took 41 wickets in the 2016-17 Ranji season. After this, Sunrisers Hyderabad brought him for Rs 2.6 crore in the IPL Auction. After being sold at such a big price, Siraj bought a big house for his father and family. After this, the speedster made his T20I debut for India in the year 2017 and in 2019 he also made an ODI debut against Australia. However, he could not perform as well he was expected to. Siraj's form in IPL 2020  was good which is why he is a part of Team India for Australia tour.
