However, fresh reports suggest the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is considering hosting the tournament in the UAE to ensure participation from all teams.
Will India Play in Asia Cup 2025?
According to Forbes, the ACC is keen to conduct the tournament in the UAE, hoping to avoid political complications. While India is officially scheduled to host the tournament, the potential involvement of Pakistan may force a neutral venue. With PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi currently serving as ACC President, concerns around governance and participation have intensified. So far, the BCCI has not issued an official statement regarding Team India’s involvement.
T20 Format Before World Cup 2026
The 2025 edition of the Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format, in preparation for the T20 World Cup 2026. In 2023, due to similar tensions, the Asia Cup was held under a hybrid model in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This time, with India’s stance still unclear, ACC’s plan to shift the tournament entirely to the UAE may be the only viable option.
India’s Dominant Run in Asia Cup 2023
India delivered a commanding performance in the 2023 Asia Cup, clinching the title for a record-extending eighth time.
The tournament was played in a hybrid format, with matches held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka due to geopolitical concerns. Despite the logistical complexities, India emerged as the most consistent and dominant side.
