Archery World Cup 2024: Indian Archery Dominance Continues As Women's Compound Trio Clinches 3rd Successive Gold

India Wins Golds At Archery World Cup 2024: The Indian trio comprising Jyothi, Parneet, and Aditi secured their third consecutive Archery World Cup gold medal by defeating Turkey.

India Wins Golds At Archery World Cup 2024: The Indian women's compound trio consisting of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur and Aditi Swami secured their third consecutive gold medal at the 2024 Archery World Cup in Yecheon, South Korea, with the mixed team also clinching a silver at the stage two event on Saturday. The world's top-ranked Indian compound women's team displayed dominance against Turkey's Hazal Burun, Ayse Bera Suzer and Begum Yuva throughout the final, securing the gold without dropping a set and maintaining a comfortable six-point margin of 232-226.

This victory marked a hat-trick of World Cup gold medals for Jyothi, Parneet and world champion Aditi, who had previously triumphed at the season-opening World Cup Stage 1 in Shanghai last month, defeating Italy, and also ended last year with a gold at the stage four event in Paris. In the compound women's team final, the Indian team started strong but faced some fightback from Turkey in the following rounds. However, they maintained their lead to secure the gold.

Mixed Team Clinches Silver Medal

Despite their commendable performance, Asian Games champion Jyothi, paired with Priyansh, fell short of securing a second gold as they relinquished their lead in the opening round and were ultimately defeated by Olivia Dean and Sawyer Sullivan of the United States of America by a margin of two points (155-153) in the compound mixed team final. Despite initially leading, Jyothi and Priyansh struggled for consistency as the USA team made a remarkable comeback to win the gold as India had to settle for the silver.

Prathamesh Fuge, part of the gold medal-winning men's team in Shanghai, is also expected to secure a medal in the individual category. Fuge, who defeated 2021 world champion Nico Wiener of Austria, will face world No. 7 James Lutz in his quest for a maiden individual World Cup medal.
