Antim Panghal Secures Olympic Quota With World Championships Bronze

Belgrade: Antim Panghal, the young prodigy in Indian wrestling, has etched her name in history with a spectacular performance at the World Championships, securing a well-deserved bronze medal. Her remarkable achievement not only adds to India's wrestling glory but also guarantees a coveted 53kg quota for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

At just 19 years old, Antim Panghal has accomplished what only a select few Indian women have achieved on the grand stage of the World Championships. Her dazzling victory came against Sweden's Emma Jonna Denise Malmgren, marking her as one of the brightest talents in Indian wrestling.

In a thrilling and high-scoring contest, Antim Panghal displayed her prowess, ultimately clinching a technical superiority win. This historic triumph doesn't only make her the sixth Indian woman to claim a bronze medal at the World Championships but also distinguishes her as the first Indian wrestler, regardless of gender, to secure a quota for the Paris Olympics in the following year.

Antim Panghal now joins the esteemed ranks of Geeta Phogat (2012), Babita Phogat (2012), Pooja Dhanda (2018), Vinesh Phogat (2019), and Anshu Malik, who secured a silver, as medallists at the World Championships for India. Her accomplishment not only symbolizes her remarkable talent but also showcases the continuous growth and excellence of Indian wrestling on the global stage.

Earlier, India's Neeraj Chopra also sealed his Paris Olympic Qualifiation in style. He did so at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. One throw was all he needed to qualify for the Paris Olympics at the World Athletics Championships Qualiying in Budapest, Hungary. None of the other competitors came close to Chopra's first throw of 88.77m. The throw helped hims seal a place in the final where he eventually bagged a gold medal.
