In Sunday's IPL 2025 clash between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium, Rahul needs just 33 runs to become the fastest Indian to score 8,000 runs in T20 cricket.

Virat Kohli achieved this feat in 243 innings, but Rahul could break the record in just 214 innings, putting him ahead of Kohli and making him the second-fastest in the world - trailing only Babar Azam of Pakistan, who did it in 218 innings.

This isn't the first time Rahul has rewritten the record books this season.

He recently became the fastest player to reach 5,000 IPL runs, achieving the landmark in just 130 innings, beating David Warner's previous record of 135 innings.

The upcoming match offers Rahul another chance to make history.

DC have 13 points from 11 games and need to win at least two of their remaining three matches to stay in contention for spot in playoffs.
