Preparations Underway For Multi-Agency Coastal Defence Exercise 'Sea Vigil-22'. In Pics

The Coast Guard, Maharashtra police, and other stakeholders will participate in the 'Sea Vigil 2022' coastal defence exercise.

Apart from the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and police from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka, the exercise will include personnel from customs, the Central Industrial Security Force, the Department of Fisheries, the Directorate General (Shipping), port authorities, oil handling agencies, the Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships, and other relevant state and central agencies, according to Captain Sunil Menon, Command Coastal Security Officer of the Indian Navy. The drill, which the Navy conducts nationwide, includes the exercise. The exercise aims to verify the effectiveness of the national coastal defence organisation against threats coming from the sea. To defend against any attacks from the sea, the involved agencies will deploy a significant amount of their resources, according to PTI. (Image Source: ANI)

Other issues that will be evaluated during the exercise include agency coordination, smooth information flow, sharing of intelligence inputs with pertinent security authorities, application of best practises, and validation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various contingencies.  (Image Source: ANI)

There will be two phases to the drill. The agencies will audit and evaluate their infrastructure during the first phase.  The teams role-playing subversive elements will simulate attacks and incursions from the sea during the second phase to see how well the coastal security agencies can thwart such attempts from the water, PTI reported.  (Image Source: ANI)
