Kedarnath village is one of India's most respected religious locations, and lies tucked away in the formidable Garhwal Himalayas. The ancient temple, which is devoted to Lord Shiva, has beautiful architecture and is made of extraordinarily huge but uniformly cut grey stone slabs. Within the temple, a conical rock formation is revered as Lord Shiva in his "Sadashiva" form. One of Lord Shiva's 12 Jyotirlingas in India is the Lord Shiva temple in Kedarnath, which is a stop on the Char Dham pilgrimage route.
