“We Will Retrieve Nepali Territories From India” Says Nepal's PM Oli
PM Oli during the seventh Parliament session said that they will retrieve the Nepali territories of Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh from India.
New Delhi: On Sunday, Nepal's Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli said that they will retrieve the Nepali territories of Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh which have long been "occupied" by India. This comes before, the Nepalese foreign minister, Pradeep Gyawali visit to New Delhi on January 14th 2020 for the India-Nepal Joint Commission meeting.
According to an IANS report, while addressing the National Assembly, PM Oli said that one of the prime items on the agenda of Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali on his India visit is the boundary dispute. Oli said. "We will hold diplomatic talks with India and our Foreign Minister is also going to India”.
He said that as per the Sugauli Treaty, Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh are located east of the Mahakali River and belong to Nepal.

"Today, we are facing difficulties to get back our land because Nepali rulers never made efforts to reclaim Nepali territories after Indian military forces started to station there following the India-China war in 1962. After the India-China war, an Indian army battalion is stationed in Kalapani that Nepal has been claiming as its territory," he added.
Wanting to make the move as friendly as possibly, Oli stressed "Nepali land will be retrieved at any cost," while addressing the seventh session of the parliament.
Earlier this month, Nepal had shown interest in procuring Coronavirus vaccines from India. According to the Kathmandu Post, a proposal is being prepared to sign a memorandum of understanding to further cooperate in the health sector between Nepal and India. The MoU is likely to include an agreement on the procurement of Covid vaccines from India, as well as cooperation between the medical councils of the two countries.
