Income Tax raids evangelist Paul Dhinakaran's 28 properties in Tamil Nadu, over alleged tax evasion.
New Delhi: Income Tax raids 28 premises of evangelist Paul Dhinakaran in Tamil Nadu, over alleged tax evasion and foreign fund mismanagement. The IT officers will also be raiding Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, and Jesus Calls ministry.
Paul Dhiankaran, the son of tele-evangelist D.G.S Dhinkaran, is the chancellor of Karunya Institute of Technology. The head office of his missionary ‘Jesus Calls’ is located in Chennai whereas Karunya Institute is located in Coimbatore along with his residence. The raid is likely to continue for a few days, reports say.

Jesus Calls was founded in 1962 by his father, and after his demise in 2008 it was taken over by Paul and his family. ‘Jesus Calls’ ministries known as ‘Prayer Towers’ are located in various cities across the nation of India and in other countries such as the USA, UK, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Fiji, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Israel and Canada according to the website. The Jesus Calls TV ministry, telecasts 400 programs a month in 10 different languages across the globe.
Born in 1962, Paul graduated from Loyola College, Chennai, with a Bachelor's degree in Physics, and went on to complete his MBA and then earned his Ph.D in Management at the age of 26. According to the website, Karunya Institute of Technology in India, founded in 1986 where 8000 students study Science and Technology, Engineering, Arts, Media, and Management courses. It is ranked among the first 50 Institutions in India. Nearly 27,000 have graduated with undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D degrees.
