Toyota Fortuner TRD Celebratory Edition Launched

Fortuner gets a sporty makeover for its 10th anniversary

Toyota has launched the Fortuner TRD Celebratory Edition at Rs 33.85 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This edition marks the SUV’s 10 years in the Indian market and is based on the diesel-AT 4x2 variant. It features some cosmetic changes on the exterior as well as the interior. Even though the car gets the same engine options, it seeks a premium of Rs 2.15 lakh over the donor variant and costs Rs 25,000 more than the top-spec diesel-AT 4x4. On the exterior, the front and rear bumper get black inserts, charcoal black 18-inch alloy wheels, TRD badging up front and at the rear and ‘Celebratory Edition’ emblem on the front fender. Toyota is offering only one colour option- a dual-tone shade in Pearl White with Attitude Black sunroof. Inside the Celebratory Edition, Toyota is offering black and maroon perforated seats having contrast red stitching instead of the Chamois shade that is offered in the Fortuner 4x2 AT variant. Other than that, everything else is the same as the donor trim. So, it gets the 7-inch infotainment system although, without Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, it does come with Bluetooth connectivity, DVD playback, USB input and a six-speaker audio system. The list also includes steering-mounted audio controls, dual zone climate control and more. Toyota is offering seven airbags, rear camera with sensors, ABS with EBD, hill assist control, vehicle stability control, speed-sensing auto door lock with impact-sensing unlock and ISOFIX child seat anchors, among others in terms of safety features. As Toyota is offering the same engine, this too gets the 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit that returns 177PS of max power and 450Nm of peak torque. It comes coupled with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Japanese carmaker has stated that it is going to offer the diesel-powered Fortuner post the implementation of the BS6 norms though it can see a price rise by around Rs 5 lakh. The Fortuner is currently priced between Rs 27.83 lakh and Rs 33.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and rivals the Ford Endeavor, Mahindra Alturas G4, Skoda Kodiaq and Isuzu muX.
