PM to Begin Whirlwind Tour Of 4 States; Inaugurate Projects Worth ₹70,000 Crore In UP, Bihar, Bengal & Sikkim
PM Modi to visit Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh on May 29–30 to launch infrastructure, energy, transport, and welfare projects worth ₹70,000 crore.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will undertake a two-day visit to Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh on 29th and 30th May, during which he will participate in landmark state events and unveil a host of infrastructure, energy, transport, healthcare, and welfare projects. The cumulative worth of these projects exceeds ₹70,000 crore, underscoring the Centre’s commitment to comprehensive regional development and improved quality of life for citizens across multiple sectors.
PM in Sikkim: Celebrating 50 Years of Sikkim's Statehood
On 29th May, the Prime Minister will begin his visit in Sikkim by participating in the “Sikkim@50: Where Progress meets purpose and nature nurtures growth” programme at around 11 AM. The event marks 50 years of Sikkim’s Statehood, celebrated under the theme “Sunaulo, Samriddha and Samarth Sikkim”.
PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several key projects in the state, including:
- A 500-bedded District Hospital in Namchi worth over ₹750 crore
- A Passenger Ropeway at Sangachoeling, Pelling in Gyalshing District
- A statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok District
He will also release a commemorative coin, souvenir coin, and a postage stamp to mark the occasion.
PM in West Bengal: Boosting Clean Energy Infrastructure
At around 2:15 PM on 29th May, the Prime Minister will reach Alipurduar, West Bengal, to lay the foundation stone of a ₹1,010 crore City Gas Distribution (CGD) project covering Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts.
The project will provide:
- Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to over 2.5 lakh households
- Clean energy to over 100 commercial and industrial units
- Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to vehicles via 19 planned stations
This initiative aligns with the government’s goals for energy transition and regional employment generation.
PM in Bihar: Power, Roads, and Connectivity Projects Worth ₹50,000 Crore
Later in the evening on 29th May, PM Modi will inaugurate the new terminal building of Patna Airport, constructed at a cost of around ₹1,200 crore. He will also lay the foundation stone for a new civil enclave at Bihta Airport worth ₹1,410 crore, aimed at enhancing air connectivity for Patna and its growing educational institutions.
On 30th May, he will visit Karakat, Bihar, to unveil and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects totalling over ₹48,520 crore. Major initiatives include:
- Power Sector: Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II) in Aurangabad district worth ₹29,930 crore
- Road Infrastructure: Four-laning of Patna–Arrah–Sasaram NH-119A, Six-laning of NH-319B and NH-119D, and a new Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharauli
- Rail Development: Inauguration of the third rail line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj worth over ₹1,330 crore
- Road Projects: Four-laning of Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section of NH-22 and improvements in Gopalganj Town on NH-27 worth ₹5,520 crore
These projects are expected to strengthen connectivity, support industrial growth, and enhance Bihar’s power infrastructure.
PM in Uttar Pradesh: Big Boost to Metro, Power, and Defence Corridor
Concluding his visit on 30th May, the Prime Minister will reach Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, around 2:45 PM to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth approximately ₹20,900 crore. Key highlights include:
- Metro Infrastructure: Inauguration of the Chunniganj to Kanpur Central Metro section under the Kanpur Metro Rail Project worth ₹2,120 crore
- Power Projects: 660 MW Panki Thermal Power Extension Project (₹8,300 crore) and three 660 MW units of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project (₹9,330 crore)
- Electric Infrastructure: New 220 kV substation in Sector 28, YEIDA and two 132 kV substations in Greater Noida worth over ₹320 crore
- Water Management: 40 MLD tertiary sewage treatment plant at Bingawan worth ₹290 crore
In addition, road connectivity projects will support the Kanpur Defence Corridor and boost industrial access. Rail Over Bridges in Kanpur will ease transport logistics and reduce congestion.
Prime Minister will also distribute certificates and cheques to beneficiaries of the PM Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana, National Livelihood Mission, and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
