The London engagement — Modi’s fourth visit to the UK as Prime Minister — is the centrepiece of a two-stop tour that will also take him to the Maldives later in the week, an official statement noted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to pay an official visit to the United Kingdom from July 23 – 24, 2025 at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,  Keir Starmer.

The London engagement — Modi’s fourth visit to the UK as Prime Minister — is the centrepiece of a two-stop tour that will also take him to the Maldives later in the week, an official statement from the authorities revealed.

Broad India–UK Agenda: Trade, Technology, Security

During the visit, PM Modi and Prime Minister Starmer will hold wide-ranging discussions spanning the entire gamut of India–UK bilateral ties. The leaders will review progress under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) with a specific focus on trade and economy, technology and innovation, defence and security, climate, health, education, and people-to-people links. They will also exchange views on regional and global developments. Prime Minister Modi is also expected to call on King Charles III during the stay.

Officials indicated that both sides will use the short but high-intensity programme to take stock of workstreams launched under the CSP framework and to identify areas where additional momentum may be required. With trade, technology collaboration and innovation-led growth high on both governments’ agendas, New Delhi and London are expected to underscore convergence across economic, strategic and societal priorities.

State Visit to Maldives: Marking 60 Years of Independence

In the second leg, Prime Minister Modi will undertake a State Visit to the Maldives from July 25–26, 2025, on the invitation of the President of the Republic of Maldives, Dr Mohamed Muizzu. This will be the Prime Minister's third visit to the Maldives, and the first visit by a Head of State or Government to the Maldives during the Presidency of Dr Muizzu.

Prime Minister Modi will be the ‘Guest of Honour’ at the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Independence of Maldives on July 26, 2025. He will meet his contemporary and hold discussions on issues of mutual interest, and the two leaders will take stock of the progress in implementing the India-Maldives Joint Vision for a ‘Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership’, adopted during the State Visit of the President of Maldives to India in October 2024.

Maldives’ Special Place in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ Policy

New Delhi has stressed that the Maldives continues to hold a special place in India’s 'Neighbourhood First' policy and Vision MAHASAGAR. The forthcoming visit, Indian officials said, will provide an opportunity for both sides to further deepen and strengthen the close bilateral relationship.
