Maruti Suzuki Swift DLX launched at Rs 4.54 lakh

New Delhi: In order to stay abreast with the increasing competition, Maruti Suzuki has reportedly launched a limited edition DLX version of its popular hatchback, the Swift, at a sticker price of Rs 4.54 lakh for the petrol variant. The diesel is being said to set you back by Rs 5.95 lakh. Based on the lower Lxi and Ldi trims, the new Swift is aimed at offering more features at lower prices in the segment, something that has seen smaller cars from other manufacturers give the hatchback a tough time. As sales figures indicate, the Swift slipped out of the five top-selling cars for the month of June 2016 while the Hyundai Grand i10 moved up to number four. Even though it is not a direct rival, the Renault Kwid also outsold the Swift, clocking in at number five on the charts. In a bid to rectify this, the new limited edition Swift, as reports suggest, is being offered with a plethora of features that were earlier only available on its higher trims. A Sony FM music system with Bluetooth, USB and front door speakers, all four power windows, fog lamps and a blacked out B-pillar lead this list. Safety features such as engine immobiliser, smart warning indicators and child safety lock are also said to make their way on the Maruti Suzuki Swift DLX. Mechanically though, the car will continue to be offered with the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel motors. While the former can churn out 84PS of peak power and 115Nm of peak torque, the latter is good for 75PS and 190Nm. As for the facelifted version of the Swift, it is expected to debut in India only by next year. It will reportedly be manufactured at the Gujarat plant of the country’s largest manufacturer.
