Man kills wife over her excessive ‘social media’ usage

New Delhi: A 36-year-old man shot his wife dead, and then committed suicide by shooting himself with the same pistol following a brief argument on Friday morning in South West Delhi's Baba Haridas Nagar area. The deceased have been identified as Anita (36), daughter of a retired Delhi Police official, and her husband Jagbir, the security guard of a Karol Bagh-based businessman. Turns out, Jagbir had started suspecting Anita of having an affair because of her excessive usage of ‘social media’ on her smart-phone. He often asked her to reduce her usage of Facebook and Whatsapp which she blatantly refused. Jagbir visited the house of his in-laws around 7 a.m. on Friday to convince his wife Anita to return home, who had gone there as a result of the constant fights. The incident occurred when Anita refused to go with Jagbir and the couple got into a heated argument. Following which, Jagbir pulled out a gun and shot her twice. Within minutes, he turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared them dead. The couple had two sons aged 16 and 14 years who are left orphaned now.
