'Eating Dead Snake Will Keep Covid At Bay', Claims TN Man; Arrested, Fined After Video Goes Viral

A man arrested and fined in Madurai for eating a snake and filming a video of it claiming that snake meat wards off the corona infection.

Madurai (Tamil Nadu):  A video in which a man eats a dead snake, is going viral on social media.

The man belonging to Perumalpatti village in Madurai district claims that consuming the dead snake raw will keep coronavirus and other diseases at bay.

As the video went viral, shocked environmentalists informed the police, who identified the offender and arrested him. Vadivel was also fined Rs 7,500 for this dreadful act.

As per reports, Vadivel caught the snake in a field and killed it before eating it. In the viral video, Vadivel is seen biting into the snake and claiming that the reptile was good for keeping the Covid-19 virus at bay.

The agriculture worker said he had been consuming snakes to protect himself from the coronavirus as it had good antidotes to fight off the novel virus.

Wild officials said he was lucky to not have consumed the venom glands or else it could have paralyzed him.
