Jeep Compass Sport Plus Variant Launched At Rs 15.99 Lakh

It is available with both petrol and diesel engine options

Jeep has launched the Compass Sport Plus in India. It is available with both petrol and diesel engine options, priced at Rs 15.99 lakh and 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. The Sport Plus is the seventh variant in the Compass’ lineup and sits between the base-spec Sport and mid-spec Longitude variant. Prices (ex-showroom Delhi). Jeep Compass Sport Plus Variant Launched At Rs 15.99 Lakh Jeep Compass Sport Plus Variant Launched At Rs 15.99 Lakh Over the base-spec Sport variant, the Sport Plus is equipped with features such as dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, 16-inch alloy wheels and roof rails. For all those extra features, the Sport Plus variant attracts a premium of Rs 59,000 and Rs 39,000 over the base-spec petrol and diesel Sport variant, respectively. While the premium seems justifiable in the case of the diesel version, the petrol variant feels overpriced. Jeep Compass Sport Plus Variant Launched At Rs 15.99 Lakh The remaining feature list of the Compass Sport Plus variant is similar to that of the base-spec Sport variant. So, it is equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill start assist, traction control, electronic stability control, disc brakes on all four corners, electronic parking brake, electrically adjustable ORVMs, halogen headlamps and a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity. Mechanically, the Jeep Sport Plus gets the same set of petrol and diesel engines like the other variants. The Compass diesel is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 173PS of power and 350Nm of torque. The petrol Compass, on the other hand, gets a 1.4-litre unit that generates 163PS and 250Nm. Since Jeep is not offering automatic transmission on the Sport Plus, both the engines are mated to a 6-speed MT only. Jeep Compass Sport Plus Variant Launched At Rs 15.99 Lakh Although not confirmed, Jeep might have discontinued or temporarily taken the base-spec Sport variant off the market since it misses out on rear parking sensors - a feature that is required to be fitted on all new cars sold from 1 April 2019.
