Who Is Wing Commander Vyomika Singh? One Of The 2 Women Telling The World About 'Operation Sindoor'
Operation Sindoor: Wing Commander Vyomika Singh presented IAF's Operation Sindoor briefing after India’s strike on Pakistan.

In a defining moment for India's Armed Forces, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, an accomplished helicopter pilot in the Indian Air Force, took centre stage during a high-stakes media briefing on Operation Sindoor. This operation followed a retaliatory military strike by India in response to the brutal killing of 26 Indian tourists in Pahalgam — a tragedy that shocked the nation and demanded swift action.
Standing alongside Colonel Sophia Qureshi and officers from the Army and Navy, Wing Commander Singh played a key role in conveying the mission's details. Her appearance marked a significant moment — not just for the operation, but for the evolving role of women in the Indian military. Few women have ever stood before the national media representing all three branches of the armed forces at such a critical moment.

From Childhood Dream To The Skies Of Combat
For Wing Commander Singh, the path to the Indian Air Force wasn't just a career — it was a lifelong dream. As early as the sixth grade, she knew her destiny lay in the skies. Fittingly, her name "Vyomika" translates to "daughter of the sky".
After joining the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and completing her engineering studies, Singh became the first in her family to join the armed forces. Her dedication and talent culminated in her commissioning as a helicopter pilot, and she earned a permanent commission in the flying branch on December 18, 2019.
