'Rohingya Clan', 'Chotiwala Rakshasa': Twitter War Breaks Out Between BJP & TMC MPs Ahead Of Phase 2 Voting

The tiff started after the tweet of TMC MP Mahua Moitra which claimed that Union Minister Giriraj called Mamata Banerjee from 'Rohingya clan'.

Guwahati: Just a day before the second phase polling in Bengal, a Twitter war broke out between two MP's of BJP and TMC. The tiff started after the tweet of TMC MP Mahua Moitra which claimed that Union Minister Giriraj called Mamata Banerjee from 'Rohingya clan'.

"Union Minister Giriraj Says Mamata's from 'Rohingya Clan'. Proud of it. Far better than being from the Chotiwala Rakshasa Clan!" TMC MP tweeted.

On other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Locket Chatterjee lashed out by saying "Proud of being a Rohingya and calling Hindus Rakshas is a new low even by TMC’s otherwise low standards! Shame on their appeasement politics..."

The party has picked the actor-turned-politician and sitting Lok Sabha MP for Chunchura, an assembly constituency that falls under Hooghly, her Lok Sabha seat.

The first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections concluded with an estimated 79.79 percent voter turnout last Saturday. Thirty seats covering all assembly constituencies from the districts of Purulia and Jhargram and a segment of Bankura, Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur went to polls to decide on the electoral fate of 191 candidates, including 21 women.
