Weekend Lockdown Announced In J&K, OPD Services Also Ordered To Be Shut Down In Hospitals

Jammu Kashmir: In view of the continuously increasing number of cases of Coronavirus, the administration has announced a weekend lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir. In addition to lockdown, many more restrictions have also been introduced. In addition to restarting all Covid hospitals, it has been decided to close OPD services and also close offline classes in schools and colleges. The Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir has issued orders and issued new restrictions as well as new guidelines.
Jammu and Kashmir reported 2456 new Corona cases in the last 24 hours, which means the number of active cases has crossed 10,000. Corona cases in Jammu and Kashmir were less than 200 two weeks ago, but cases have increased rapidly over the past few days.
OPD services for patients in SMHS and SKIMS, Srinagar's largest hospital, have been suspended in view of the increasing number of cases. At the same time, it has been decided to postpone non-urgent surgeries till further orders. Rapid tests have been made mandatory for patients visiting hospitals and their attendants.
Announcement of suspension of examinations
Meanwhile, Kashmir University and Cluster University have issued orders announcing the suspension of all examinations till further orders. The order says that for the information of the concerned it is hereby notified that all the examinations of Cluster University Srinagar scheduled from January 17, 2022, have been postponed till further orders. This decision has been taken in view of the increase in the cases of Covid.
Weekend lockdown is being strictly imposed across Jammu and Kashmir today. On the orders of the district administration, the police appealed through loudspeakers in several areas of Srinagar, especially in Lal Chowk, to keep shops closed. In Lal Chowk and many nearby areas, police personnel were seen making an appeal to people to wear masks and follow the Covid protocol.
