The event was conducted by the BJP farmer association functionary near Chennai’s Ambattur.

According to reports, the organizers used fireworks to welcome Muthurama, deputy leader of the agricultural team when a spark from fireworks resulted in the explosion of gas-filled balloons. People standing near the balloons suffered burn injuries. All of the injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital.

All of the injured BJP workers were rushed to a nearby hospital. It is alleged that no permission was obtained to organise the event. The Prime Minister's birthday was celebrated by the BJP agriculture team at Padi near Chennai’s Ambattur where 2,000 gas balloons were to be flown in the sky during the celebration. “At least 100 people were gathered at Padavattamman Koil street at Padi to welcome one Muthuraman, who is the BJP farmer association functionary.
