UP Monsoon Session: Samajwadi Party Protests Against 'Lawlessness', BJP Calls Them 'Jobless'

The BJP responded by accusing the party of straying from the designated path and failing to obtain the requisite approvals.

Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), along with other party officials led a march from their party office to the State Assembly on Monday in protest against Yogi Adityanath's government's price hikes and lawlessness, news agency ANI reported.

According to Rajendra Chaudhary, the SP's top spokesperson, the party's MLAs and MLCs would emphasise concerns of unemployment, price hike, crime against women, and the state's terrible law and order condition in their march.

Because of the BJP government's "revenge mindset," social cohesion is at peril. He claimed that the BJP is engaging in "politics of hate," which is against the principles of democracy.

However, the BJP responded by accusing the party of straying from the designated path and failing to obtain the requisite approvals.

Speaking on SP's protest, UP CM Yogi Adityanath stated: "There is no harm if any party asks their questions in a democratic way. Samajwadi Party should take permission for any procession which should not harm anyone. Following laws & order is too much of an expectation from Samajwadi Party leaders."

"They hadn't taken permission. Still, they were assigned a designated route which wouldn't have caused traffic congestion. They refused to take that. We've no option but to stop them here. If they take the designated route, there won't be a problem:," Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Piyush Mordia informed ANI.

Meanwhile, K P Maurya, the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, reacted harshly, saying the SP was "jobless and left with nothing to do."

"SP's protest is not related to the benefit of common people. If they want to discuss this, they are free to do it in the Assembly. Our government is ready for discussions. Samajwadi Party is jobless now, they've nothing to do. Such protests will only create problems for people," he said.

The march started at the SP office and ended at the Vidhan Bhavan after passing via Raj Bhavan and the Gandhi statue next to the General Post Office.

According to the SP spokesperson, party members would vehemently bring up the issues facing the populace in both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council.
