UP Labourer Shot Dead In J&K's Pulwama, Area Cordoned Off, Say Police

A labourer from Uttar Pradesh has been killed in the Tumchi Nowpora area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.

A labourer from Uttar Pradesh has been killed in the Tumchi Nowpora area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama after terrorists opened fire, said the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The area has been cordoned off.

After the firing incident, security was tightened in the area.

There have been several incidents of attacks on labourers in Jammu And Kashmir reported in the past. In July, two labourers were injured after they were shot at by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. Both the injured were taken to a hospital and are being treated. As per news agency ANI, they are now in stable condition. The area where the attack took place has been sealed and police have launched a search operation to nab the terrorists.

"Terrorists fired upon two outside labourers in Anantnag. Both the injured civilians have been shifted to hospital, where they are stated to be stable," the Kashmir Zone Police informed on Twitter.

In the same month, three non-local labourers were shot at by terrorists in Shopian district. The injured were identified as Anwal Thoker, Heeralal and Pantoo.

On Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police announced the arrest of a hybrid militant in South Kashmir's Shopian district. The arrest was made in conjunction with the recovery of arms and ammunition, raising concerns about security in the region. According to a Jammu and Kashmir Police spokesperson, the incident unfolded at approximately 6 PM when a joint patrolling operation was underway in the villages of Manihal, Aloora, and DK Pora.
