Union Minister Uma Bharti declares, 'Ayodhya belongs to Ram'

New Delhi: Asserting that there was no dispute over Ayodhya being Lord Ram's birth place, Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti on Monday said that the actual disagreement was over the ownership of the land and assured that it would be sorted soon without any hassles. "The issue is not if the land is Ram janmabhoomi or not. Even the panel of three judges have concurred that the land belongs to Ram. The challenge is the dispute between the WAQF board and the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas over possession of the land, not if it belonged to Lord Ram or not," Bharti told the media here. BJP MP Vinay Katiyar has also raised the issue and urged the Centre to introduce a Bill in the Lok Sabha facilitating the construction of a Ram Temple at the site, emphasising that the temple had been a priority for the BJP. "We want it to be a museum where people from around the world come, and get an insight into Lord Ram's life and the Ramayana," Sharma told. Earlier, the opposition had criticised Prime Minister Modi's recent visit to Lucknow to participate in the Dussehra festivities, stating that this was nothing but mere vote bank politics. However, the BJP has been insisting that the Ram temple will not be an electoral tool in their campaign for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections to be held early next year.
