These States Just Bust Rumours About Lockdown Extension After June 15, Find Out Which Ones
After a piece of false news in social media claimed that the government will extend the lockdown after June 15, some of the worst affected states have clarified that there are no such plans.
New Delhi: In the last few days, India has seen a serious spike in cases, taking the total COVID-19 cases to over 3 lakhs. The center and states have decided against imposing another lockdown and have earlier stated that people should learn to live with coronavirus. Following a viral image that claimed that another lockdown will come into action on June 15th, 2020, the government cleared out the rumour saying that there were no such plans. The post which went viral across social media also claimed that air and train services will be suspended but this too was declared as false.
The worst-hit states Delhi, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu are in sync with the center’s decision to not have any more lockdowns. In a report by ANI, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain clarified "No, the lockdown will not be extended.”
Delhi has recorded 22212 active cases and 1214 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare website. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackrey said in a report by Times of India, “News such as these create confusion in society, forwarding and posting these kinds of false reports on social media is a crime.” The chief minister’s office has also clarified through a tweet.
The MOHFW website shows 49,628 active cases in Maharashtra and 3717 deaths have been recorded so far. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami tweeted the false viral claim “This news is completely false. No one needs to believe these rumours. Legal action will be taken against those who spread such false information″. The Health Ministry's data shows that the state has 18,284 COVID-19 active cases and a death toll of 367. He has earnestly requested them to follow the Govt's instructions and take necessary precautions to stay safe and take care.
