'Hope GDP Will Be Return In Positive Territory By Next Quarter', Says HM Amit Shah At A Virtual Inauguration

Union Minister Amit Shah while addressing a virtual inauguration ceremony of two road-over bridges on Monday in Ahmedabad, said that he hopes the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will be back to the positive territory in the next quarter of the coming year. "As prime minister, Narendrabhai used the time of COVID-19 pandemic to visualize policy-making, keeping in mind its long-term impact on the economy," Shah said. He further stated that the PM’s reforms were not just limited to the industrial or the corporate but to every possible sector of the economy including agriculture. “Without wasting a second, he worked on reforms in many areas like farm sector, electricity, industrial policy, to create a system to maintain the pace of development, he further said. Shah again reiterated the fact that the PM, not only helped to revive the economy through new policies and relaxation reforms but also introduced a package of Rs 20 lakh crore giving pace to the economy and ensuring welfare to the last section man of the society. "As a result, in terms of the recent GDP figure, we are only six per cent behind…and I hope that in the next quarter, the GDP will be in plus (positive)," Shah said. Since, the outbreak of the Covid-19 disease, the country entered into lockdown on March 24.  Which led to the closure of markets and factories. With the country’s swift economical growth after the lockdown, the GDP recorded another but a smaller contraction of 7.5 per cent in the third quarter (July-September). The economy recovered faster than expected in the country as the manufacturing helped in picking up the pace.
