Technology at its best at IIT-Bombay Techfest

MUMBAI: Techfest is IIT Bombay's annual science and technology festival creating a visual spectacle year after year. It is today well established as Asia's Largest Science and Technology festival patronized by UNESCO and UNICEF, with an outreach of over 2500 colleges across India and over 500 overseas. 2-compressed (1) Techfest acted as a platform for both the brilliant and the blooming to connect and have an interaction of a lifetime, with eminent personalities. The Techfest was a 3-day event which witnessed mind-blowing participation by techies from across the world. Techfest day 1 kicked off with a splendid start, witnessing a footfall of over 35,000. Techfest Day 2 received a splendid response witnessing a footfall of over 55,000 Tech enthusiasts. Techfest Day 3 received a splendid response. Witnessing an overall footfall of over 1,65,000 Tech enthusiasts during the 3 day festival 3-compressed (2) Techfestwas a display of the latest breakthroughs in science and technology with the aim of promoting technology and its applications among the masses in India. Photo: IIT Bombay Below are the highlights of the Techfest: Exhibitions: Being one of the greatest Exhibitions, Techfest present you the main advanced technology from all over the globe under one roof. The aim of exhibitions is- the direct interaction of crowd with these world class exhibits and make their experience very memorable one. The students at IIT-Mumbai came out with extremely innovative and startling ideas and the same were highly appreciated by the guests of honour as well. 1. Mind Controlled Drone: Puzzlebox Orbit, USA (Drone that is controlled by neuro senses of a person's mind) 2. Morphofunctional Drones, Switzerland (Drones that mimic the actions of bio creatures) 3. ISRO, India (Launch Vehicle, Satellites & Chandrayaan and Mars Orbiter Mission) 4. Rollkers, France (Rollkers is a transportation accessory that increases a person's average walking rate up to 7 miles per hour) 5. Techconnect: It will highlight the fundamental research being carried out and the technologies developed at IIT Bombay. It will include: Formula 1 racing car made by the students of IIT Bombay. Underwater Vehicle made by the students. Live data receiving by the satellite made by the students of Pratham which was launched by ISRO. Ajith (Professor, ICTS), Rana Adhikari (Professor, CALTECH),Urjit Yajnik (Professor, IIT Bombay), Archana Pai (Professor, IISER) was held Peter Atkins, Chemist delivered the talk on the topic of chemistry for everyone Exhibitions: It was a display of the latest breakthroughs in science and technology with the aim of promoting technology and its applications among the masses in India. International Summit on Internet of Things (IoT): The Summit began by a keynote lecture by Jeff Demain, Former Director of Intel Labs followed by discussions on IoT by Mr. Rafiq Somani (Country Manager ANSYS-INDIA) Ozone: A potpourri of enchanting events by international artists, mesmerizing setups, whacky competitions and funky workshops with a tinge of technology. Competitions: With the fields for competitions this year ranging from sustainability and design to advanced robotics to events based on pure sciences, Techfest has something in store for everyone.
