Call drop: Special towers for Delhi’s VIP zone

New Delhi: In a move to curb the problem of call drops in the capital’s Lutyens’ zone area which is a home to country’s top politicians and bureaucrats; the Home ministry has given a nod to Delhi police’s panel to install 116 mobile towers in the area.
The orders from Home Ministry come after Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised serious concerns over the problem of call drops in Delhi’s VVIP zone.
According to the reports, the towers were proposed to be installed at corners of important bungalows, Rashtrapati Bhavan, C-Hexagon at India Gate, North and South Block and all the public parks.
According to sources, the panel had suggested that towers with height of 30 meters can be installed along with a 24-hour security guard with each tower to ensure that they aren’t misused by terrorists as launching pads for attacks.
Two towers have also been constructed near Prime Minister’s residence at 7, Race course road, the installation of which has already been cleared.
