Sopore Encounter: One Militant Killed, Operation Continues After Blasting Hideout

The house where militants were hiding has been blasted by using IED.

Kashmir: A militant has been killed in an ongoing operation in the Reban area of north Kashmir's Sopore on Sunday. ALSO READ | Kashmir Stares At Another Lockdown As Covid-19 Cases Surge; Doctors, Traders Extend Support A senior Police officer said that one militant body has been recovered amid searches. However, the identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the house in which militants were hiding has been blasted by using IED. Pertinently, 126 militants have been killed so far in the Valley this year. Earlier, according to the reports reaching GNS, a joint team of Police, Army's 22 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Reban. As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter. Official sources said that a police party arrested the elderly leader at around 5:30 am, and was shifted to Police station.
