Solar Eclipse: Temples To remain Closed Today Except For Mahakaleshwar Temple, Check details

Surya Grahan occurs when the Moon comes between Sun and Earth casting a shadow onto Earth. Worship is prohibited at the time of Grahan, and no auspicious work is supposed to be performed.

Most temples across the country will remain closed including Badrinath-Kedarnath to Turpuati temple except Ujjain's famous Mahakaleshwar Temple as the country will witness the last solar eclipse of the year today. There will be a partial solar eclipse which shall be visible from western Asia, northern Africa, most regions of Europe, the Middle East, and the regions covering the North Atlantic Ocean and the North Indian Ocean.

It is not recommended to watch the eclipsed sun even for a short time with the naked eye. Even if the moon hides the majority of the sun, it will still cause lifelong eye damage and blindness.

Check List Of Temples To Remain Closed Today

The doors of Kedarnath and Badrinath temples will remain closed on Tuesday in view of the partial solar eclipse. After the eclipse, puja will be performed in the evening, the Chief Administrative Officer of the Shri Kedarnath-Badrinath Temple Committee told news agency ANI.

Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee president Ajendra Ajay informed that temple will be opened after the eclipse period.

Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala in Tirupati will also remain closed for about 12 hours because of solar eclipse on October 25 and lunar eclipse on November 8.

The Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Sankatmochan Temple will also remain closed.  The sanctum sanctorum of Baba Vishwanath will also be shut from 3:30 pm on October 25 to sunrise 6:02 am on 26 October, reported Mint. Kashi Vishwanath Temple will be opened for visitors on 26 October after Moksha Puja and Mangala Aarti. However, the Sankatmochan temple will be opened after the eclipse ends.

Temples in Prayagraj will also remain closed as devotees were seen taking a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam.

Apart from this Gangotri Dham, Ram Lalla Mandir and Hanuman Garhi in in Ayodhya, Banke Bihari Temple in Mathura will also be closed today.

In Ujjain, all the temples have been closed except Mahakaleshwar temple. This is because the sun is a part of Mahakaal as per scriptures and an eclipse would not affect it.

The start time of the eclipse is 04:28 pm and the end time is 5:42 pm whereas the maximum eclipse time will be at 5:30 pm, according to Drik Panchang.
