Shopian: Civilian killed in clashes with security forces

Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir: A civilian was killed amid clashes which broke out between protesters and security forces in Shopian district of south Kashmir today. The clashes broke out in Ganowpora when the Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) cordoned the area and launched a search operation. During clashes, one person identified as Aadil Ahmad Magray was critically injured, following which he succumbed to his injuries. More details on the same are awaited. The incident comes days after a stone pelting incident that broke out in the valley last month on May 23. The incident involved students of Government Higher Secondary School Pulwama staging a protest at Main Chowk demanding release of their school mates. The protesting students also set ablaze a bike and pelted stones at the security force and their vehicles. The Valley has been witnessing a situation of unrest in the recent times with incidents of stone pelting and protests by youth increasing by each passing day.
