‘Shershaah’ Director’s Brother Krishna Arrested In Chennai Drug Case, Second Major Bust After Srikanth

Krishna was formally arrested on Thursday, making him the second actor to be taken into custody following the arrest of fellow actor Srikanth earlier this week.

The high-profile cocaine investigation in Chennai has intensified with the arrest of Tamil actor Krishna and alleged drug supplier Kevin, exposing a suspected drug network with deep links to the entertainment industry and political circles. Krishna's arrest comes a day after he was summoned from Kerala.

Second Actor Arrested After Srikanth

On Wednesday, Krishna was detained and he formally arrested on Thursday, making him the second actor to be taken into custody following the arrest of fellow actor Srikanth earlier this week. According to police, Kevin, who was arrested separately, is accused of not only supplying cocaine and other narcotics but also consuming them with clients, as per a report on News18.

A two-hour search was conducted at Krishna’s Besant Nagar residence. Following this, he was formally arrested after an interrogation by Nungambakkam police. He was subsequently taken to a government hospital for a medical examination. As part of the probe, a blood test was conducted to determine whether he had consumed any narcotic substances.

Actor Krishna Denies Drug Use

Krishna, known for films like Anjali and Yatchan, has denied drug use, citing health issues that purportedly make such consumption impossible, reported NDTV.

Medical reports reportedly support this claim. However, investigators remain focused on his alleged connections to Prasad, a former AIADMK functionary believed to be a key figure in the drug distribution network and Kevin. Krishna was allegedly a member of WhatsApp groups dealing with drug distribution.

Prasad is also suspected of using his political influence and ties to the film industry to organise drug-fueled parties and supply narcotics to high-profile clients. He allegedly supplied the banned susbtance to actor Srikanth.

Meanwhile, Krishna is the younger brother of ‘Shershaah’ director Vishnu Varadhan and the son of a veteran film producer.
