Mohan Bhagwat Meets Mithun Chakraborty Ahead Of Bengal Polls; Actor Says 'I Share An Old Relationship With RSS'

Ahead of the Bengal Assembly elections, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat met Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty on Tuesday morning. Mohan Bhagwat arrived at Mithun Chakraborty's residence at Madh Island in Mumbai around 9 am. The two had a discussion for about an hour and a half. The meeting between Mithun Chakraborty and Mohan Bhagwat has triggered speculations of the Bollywood actor rejoining politics.
The meeting holds a huge significance as Mithun Chakraborty, a Bengali actor is a popular star with a massive fan following in the state and across the country.
After the meeting, Mithun Chakraborty spoke to ABP News and said," I have an old relationship with RSS and a spiritual connection with Mohan Bhagwat, as RSS will be there when the country needs it."
On being asked if he will support BJP in the West Bengal elections, Mithun Chakraborty avoided the question.
Earlier, Mithun Chakraborty had also visited the RSS office in Nagpur in October 2019.

Although Mithun Chakraborty has claimed that there was no political discussion during the meeting, it is still unclear how things will unfold in the future.
Chakraborty had joined the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamul Congress after it came to power in West Bengal in the 2011 Assembly elections. The election had famously dethroned the 34-year-old Left rule. The actor was later nominated as Rajya Sabha member in 2014 but resigned from the membership of Rajya Sabha within two years, citing health issue. Chakraborty, who hails from Bengal has a massive fan following in the eastern state.
