RRB-NTPC Row: Railway Minister Says Solution For Recruitment To Be 'Notified Soon'

In January 2022, protests broke out in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh over irregularities in the Railways Recruitment Board Non-Technical Popular Categories exam of 2021. 

New Delhi: The aspirants for the railway recruitments are expected to get a solution soon. A day after the high power committee was to submit its report, the Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Saturday, that a solution will be “notified soon”.

In January 2022, protests broke out in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh over irregularities in the Railways Recruitment Board Non-Technical Popular Categories exam of 2021. 

Vaishnaw wrote in a tweet, “The High-Power Committee has received around 3 lakh representations The Committee has analyzed them and within a few days the RRB will notify the solution.”

The committee was finalised to submit its report on March 4.

The aspirants opposed RRB’s decision to hold the exam in two stages, which was opposed by the candidates claiming that the second stage was unfair to those who cleared the exam in the first stage that was computer-based, held on January 15.

Due to the protests, the exam was cancelled and a committee was formed to look into the grievances.

As per sources cited by news agency PTI, the “solution” is expected to be the complete review of the examination process in line with the demands of the protesting aspirants.

Around 1.25 crore candidates applied for the railway recruitment for the vacant posts of 35,000 from Levels 2-6.

The protesting candidates also claimed that the exam questions are in favour of those who are more qualified even when the job post was available for those with less qualification as well.
