Revanth Reddy ‘Did Not Come’: KTR Taunts Telangana CM Over Skipped Open Debate, Keeps Chair Empty — Watch

Earlier, CM Revanth, while addressing a Congress workers’ meeting on July 4, had invited BRS leaders to debate the past and present governments’ records on farmers’ welfare.

Tensions were evident at the Press Club in Somajiguda on Tuesday as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao arrived for a proposed public debate on farmers’ welfare after challenging Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for a face-to-face discussion.

KTR Present, CM Revanth Absent

KTR, accompanied by party leaders and supporters, said the event was meant to engage in a constructive dialogue on issues including farm loan waivers, crop bonuses, and river water sharing. However, the Chief Minister did not attend. An unoccupied chair reserved for him was placed prominently at the venue.

KT Rama Rao said, as per ANI, "We have waited for the Chief Minister today. He did not come, but we are ready. Furthermore, if the Chief Minister chooses the place, he will set the date, wherever he calls, and we will be prepared to come."

"The people of Telangana should be aware of the fraud committed by the Congress party today. Why does PM Modi not understand it? NDA people accused Revanth Reddy of turning the Telangana government into a Congress ATM," he said.

"We came to know that the Chief Minister is in Delhi. We were ready for debate with Deputy Chief Minister, Agriculture Minister or any Minister but nobody turned up," he said, as per PTI.

Citing figures, KTR alleged that over 600 farmers had died by suicide in the last 18 months and questioned the implementation of schemes such as Rythu Bharosa and farm loan waivers. He also raised concerns about inter-state river water allocation, fund distribution, and job recruitment.

Earlier, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, while addressing a Congress workers’ meeting on July 4 in the presence of party president Mallikarjun Kharge, had invited BRS leaders to debate the past and present governments’ records on farmers’ welfare. KTR responded publicly, offering to meet at any location, including the CM’s home constituency or the Ambedkar statue.

Security was heightened around the Press Club as large numbers of BRS supporters gathered at the venue. No incidents of violence were reported.
