Republic Day 2024: Rajasthan Tableau Pays Tribute To Meera Bai, Showcases Ghoomar
Rajasthan's tableau showcased the famous 'Ghoomar' dance, depicted through a mannequin of a dancer. It also had a beautiful statue of Meera Bai, who is considered to be a symbol of devotion and power
During the 75th Republic Day on Friday, New Delhi's 'Kartavya Path' the state of Rajasthan showcased its rich culture through its tableau at the Republic day parade. This year's theme for their tableau was 'Viksit Bharat Main - Padharo Mahare Desh'.
Rajasthan's tableau demonstrated the development of women's handicraft industries in the state along with the festive culture of the state. It also featured states famous katputli dance.
The tableau showcased the famous 'Ghoomar' dance of Rajasthan, depicted through a mannequin of a dancer at the front. The state tableau also had a beautiful statue of Meera Bai, who is considered to be a symbol of devotion and power.
The tableau also displayed a glimpse of the rich handicraft traditions of the state, including bandhej, bagru print and applique work.

The parade witnessed India’s rich cultural diversity, unity and progress. The parade also showcased India's military prowess on the back of increasing indigenous capabilities, and the growing women power in the country.

The parade saw tableaux of different states in India, which were based on the twin themes of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka’.
The Republic Day parade began at 10:30 AM and ran for a duration of approx. 90 minutes. The ceremony started with the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the National War Memorial, where he led the nation in paying solemn tributes to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath. Thereafter, the Prime Minister and other dignitaries headed to the saluting dais at Kartavya Path to witness the parade.

The Republic Day parade this year witnessed the participation of around 13,000 Special Guests – an initiative which provided an opportunity to people from all walks of life to take part in the celebrations and encourage Jan Bhagidari in this national festival.
French President Emmanuel Macron was the Chief Guest at the parade. The Republic Day Parade also saw a march past by a combined Band and Marching contingent of the French Armed Forces.
