The Biggest Flypast
This year's Republic Day parade will have the biggest and most grand flypast, in which a total of 75 aircraft from the Air Force, Navy, and Army will participate. This flypast, organized in the 75th year of Independence, will have 17 Jaguar Fighter Jets that will make the '75' mark right above Rajpath in an 'Amrit' formation. This year, along with the Air Force's Jaguar, Rafale, and Sukhoi fighter jets, the Navy's P8I reconnaissance aircraft and MiG-29K fighter jets will participate for the first time in the flypast.
ITBP Daredevils Perform Stunts On Motorcycles
The Daredevil Motorcycle Team of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) will showcase their performance in the Republic Day parade, in which a total of 10 types of formations will be shown. Prominent among the formations are Lotus Formation, Border Man Salute, Fly Riding, Pawan Chakki, Horizontal Bar Exercise, Six Men Balance, Aero Position, Jaguar Position, Sentinels of the Himalayas, and Pyramid formation based on the theme of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', the 75th anniversary of India's independence.
Navy's Uprising Tableau
The theme of this year’s Navy tableau is based on the revolt by the Royal Navy in 1946 against British rule. The Indian navy was then known as the Royal Navy and a revolt by the soldiers led to a severe jolt to the British forces at the time. The tableau signifies the contribution of the Indian Navy in the freedom struggle of the country. It will also showcase India’s maritime powers and potential in the defence sector.
Women BSF Jawans Will Perform The Feat
This year, the BSF's 'Seema Bhawani' and the ITBP contingent will also perform stunts on the bike. Seema Bhavani is a contingent of women jawans of BSF.
Pt-76 & Centurion Tanks Will Lead The Parade
PT-76 and Centurion tanks will feature first at the parade at Rajpath, which had fought the Pakistan Army in the 1971 war. These vintage tanks are no longer part of the Army's war fleet and have been specifically called for the parade from the museum. Recently, the country celebrated the 'Golden victory year' of the War of 71.
Apart from this, the 75/24 vintage cannon and Topak armored personnel carrier vehicle will also be a part of the parade. The 75/24 cannon was India's first indigenous cannon and participated in the 1965 and 1971 wars. Apart from the vintage military hardware, a total of 14 mechanized columns including modern Arjun Tank, BMP-2, Dhanush Cannon, Akash Missile System, Savatra Bridge, Tiger Cat Missile, and Tarang Electronic Warfare System are also included in the parade.
