New Parliament Building: PM Modi Felicitates Construction Workers, Takes Part In Mutli-Faith Prayer — WATCH
New Parliament Building: Workers who contributed to the construction of the Parliament House were honoured by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the inauguration in the presence of various distinguished guests.
Prime Minister Naredra Modi felicitated the workers who played key roles in the construction of the new Parliament building ahead of the inauguration ceremony, on Sunday in the national capital. As the ceremony began, each worker present at the ceremony was honoured with a shawl PM Modi around their shoulders, they were also presented with a memento. This took place in the presence of various distinguished guests, including senior ministers and representatives of 25 political factions, as well as religious figures.

On Sunday, the event commenced with a religious ceremony including a havan and a prayer incorporating various beliefs. After the havan and prayers, PM Modi formally inaugurated the newly constructed Parliament building. Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, S Jaishankar, and Jitendra Singh, chief ministers of several states and BJP president J P Nadda are present on the occasion. Different representatives of various religious factions conducted a prayer ceremony.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister prostrated before the ‘Sengol’ and sought blessings from high priests of various Adheenams in Tamil Nadu with the holy sceptre in hand. Modi then carried the ‘Sengol’ in a procession amid tunes of ‘nadaswaram’ and chanting of Vedic mantras to the new Parliament building and installed it in a special enclosure on the right side of the Speaker's chair in the Lok Sabha chamber.
The Lok Sabha secretariat informed that the facility was built in record time, boasts advanced amenities, and provides a larger area compared to the old one built in 1927.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, dressed in traditional attire, walked into the Parliament premises from its Gate No. 1 and was welcomed by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Amid Vedic chants by priests from Karnataka's Shringeri Math, the prime minister perform "Ganapati Homam" to invoke Gods to bless the inauguration of the new Parliament building.
