Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi Meets Commanders, Reviews Border Situation

Kashmir News: Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Srinagar. He was briefed on the security situation and anti-terrorist measures.

Pahalgam Terror Attack: Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi arrived in Srinagar on Friday. General Upendra Dwivedi was briefed by the 15 Corps Commander on the security situation and actions being taken against terrorists. He was also apprised about the Pakistan Army's attempts to violate the ceasefire along the Line of Control, said Army officials.

On Friday (25 April 2025) morning, firing, initiated by Pakistan, was reported from some places along the Line of Control. The Indian Army responded to the firing effectively.

Gen Dwivedi's visit is quite significant in the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and the rising tensions between the two nations. The Indian Army chief is in Srinagar to review the security situation. During his visit, he will go to strategic military bases to take stock of the border situation.

Top commanders of the Indian Army deployed in Jammu and Kashmir will also brief the Army Chief on military structures. The Army Chief is also reviewing the anti-terrorist measures taken by the security forces in the Kashmir Valley and along the Line of Control. During Dwivedi's visit, the commander of the 15 Corps and other commanders of the National Rifles were present.

The Army Chief also visited the headquarters of the Victor Force in Awantipora. This division of the army is in charge of operations in South Kashmir. He met operational commanders in the field and reviewed their inputs as well. The Army chief has been briefed on the current operational situation and the security mechanism being prepared in light of the rising tensions.

Meeting With 15 Corps Commander Lieutenant

During his Jammu and Kashmir tour, General Dwivedi will also visit the headquarters of the Chinar Corps in Srinagar. Here, he will meet the Commander of the Northern Command, Lieutenant General Suchendra Kumar, and the 15 Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava. According to the information, a comprehensive security review will be conducted in this meeting and discussions can be held on military plans and necessary changes.

Army's Anti-Terror Operation After Pahalgam Tragedy

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the army has launched an intensive campaign against terrorists in the area. Terrorists opened fire on tourists on Tuesday, killing 26 people. Since then, security forces have been combing the area for suspicious activities. The army is also scouring the area using helicopters.
