'One Nation, One Voter List' Will Improve Election Process: PM Modi On National Voters' Day
Apart from the five states going to the polls from next month, elections will also be held in Gujarat in the latter part of the year.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with over five lakh party cadres in a virtual meet via the NaMo application. PM interacted with the BJP workers in view of a pre-poll preparedness drive for the party in Gujarat.
Apart from the five states going to the polls from next month, elections will also be held in Gujarat in the latter part of the year.
Around 5.25 lakh BJP members from Gujarat are registered on the NaMo app. According to party sources, the Gujarat page committees have 60 lakh registered members.
This was the first time that over five lakh BJP members had a virtual interaction with the Prime Minister using the latest technology. The Prime Minister guided the workers regarding the preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.
- On the occasion of National Voters' Day, PM Modi hailed ECI and said, "India is one of the countries where the Election Commission (EC) can issue notices to people, transfer officials. Our EC and election process set a benchmark for various countries."
- PM Modi urged the party cadres to create voter awareness in their district and regions. PM Modi also hailed the youth of the country for creating a trend to upload selfies with their inked finger after casting the vote. The Prime Minister said that this has helped to increase the voting percentage in the previous elections.
- PM Modi also appreciated the EC's new voter registration process as now the people get four opportunities in a year to get their names updated.
- The Prime Minister also spoke about the CVigil application of ECI which helps to resolve the problems of voters.
- PM also said that initiatives have been taken to link Adhaar with Voter IDs for transparency. PM Modi said that we should keep discussing 'One Nation, One Voter List' and 'One Nation, One Election' to conduct elections in a fair and transparent way which will improve the polling process.
Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat in March, and the BJP is making all preparations to connect all the karyakartas (workers) and office-bearers of the party through the NaMo app.
The Prime Minister held similar discussions with the party cadres in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh on Monday using the NaMo app.
