On day 2, Priyanka picks up husband Vadra after ED grilling; shows she is 'unfazed'
Vadra was grilled by the probe agency for nine strenuous hours today, which was the second consecutive day of his interrogation. He was questioned by ED for five and a half hours on Wednesday.
New Delhi: Giving out another strong political message ahead of Lok Sabha polls, sister of Congress President Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Thursday night reached the Enforcement Directorate to receive her husband Robert Vadra after his interrogation by the ED was over.
Vadra was grilled by the probe agency for nine strenuous hours today, which was the second consecutive day of his interrogation. He was questioned by ED for five and a half hours on Wednesday.
Priyanka who had said on Wednesday, that she would stand by her husband, today gave out a silent yet strong message to the opponents, that she remains undeterred by the “politically motivated” (as said by Vadra’s counsel) action of the ED.
Priyanka yesterday arrived at the Enforcement Directorate office to see off her husband before he appeared in front of the agency in a move seen as sending a political message. She accompanied her husband in a white Toyota Land Cruiser along with SPG personnel in tow, and dropped him outside the probe agency's office in Jamnagar House in central Delhi. She then went off to Congress headquarters.
I stand by my family," said Priyanka in response to a query about her husband being questioned by the ED. "World knows what is the politics (around it)", she said.
Today also, after having a busy day at Congress office, Priyanka made it a point to receive her husband after his inquiry.
The Congress party has been claiming that the BJP feels threatened by Priyanka’s entry in active politics and is trying to launch motivated attacks by misusing government institutions to undermine her grit.
Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned Vadra for two consecutive days connection with a money-laundering probe into alleged possession of illegal foreign assets, days after Priyanka was formally inducted into the Congress party.
It was for the first time that Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi, appeared before any probe agency in connection with alleged criminal charges of dubious financial dealings.
Vadra has denied allegations of possessing illegal foreign assets and termed them a political witch hunt against him. Vadra has alleged he was being "hounded and harassed" to subserve political ends.
