Nitish Kumar Known For Taking U-Turn, Lost Credibility: BJP After Posters Outside JD(U) Office Hint 2024 Poll Ambition

"JD(U) is trying to cover its real face through these posters. No one trusts JD(U). Nitish Kumar is known for taking U-turns. He has lost his credibility,” BJP spokesperson Nikhil Anand said.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday targeted Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over posters that came up outside Janata Dal (United) office last night in an apparent ambition of Kumar for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Speaking to news agency PTI, BJP spokesperson Nikhil Anand accused Nitish Kumar of “taking u-turns”.

"JD(U) is trying to cover its real face through these posters. No one trusts JD(U). Nitish Kumar is known for taking U-turns. He has lost his credibility,” Anand said.

Kumar has been drawing criticism over his breaking of ties with the BJP and switching sides with Mahagathbandhan including Rashtriya Janata Dal.

On Sunday, All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi berated Kumar for dumping BJP by drawing an analogy of the now outlawed triple talaq practice.

"Nitish Kumar said talaq! talaq! talaq! to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and did nikaah (marriage) with Tejashwi Yadav (Deputy CM and RJD leader)," said the Hyderabad MP while  a public meeting in Kishanganj district's Raipur panchayat on the final day of his tour of Bihar's densely populated, flood-prone Seemanchal region.

"Long ago, Nitish had vowed not to go with BJP again saying 'mitti mein mil jaaenge' but 'unko mitti pasand nahin aayi' (he did not stick to his words). He ended up saying talaq! talaq! talaq! to Tejashwi Yadav," said the firebrand leader, in his trademark style.

On March 11, BJP MP Sushil Modi launched an attack on CM Nitish Kumar and JD(U) national president Lalan Singh alleging that both took side of corruption in order to remain in power. He said he wanted to know when was the first FIR registered in the alleged land-for-jobs scam, referring to Lalan Singh's remarks who had said that the leaders are paying the price of the formation of a coalition government in Bihar.
